Not to rain on the Big 10K parade; but, one of the top road races in the country is that same weekend.
    http://www.bix7.com/2012/

This race gets top international distance runners each year and about 15,000 total participants. I would highly recommend our local race, even though the Big10K is targeted toward a very specific demographic that frequents this BBS.

I've done enough 5K's to last a lifetime.

When I mentioned this to my husker friend in Colorado he brought up a good point. Chicago has lots of BEER! .

I will be interested to see how well this is attended this time around. For this huskernut in Lincoln, Chicago is a cheap flight and I am guessing I could find a good place to stay that won't cut too deeply into the beer money....perhaps there may even be a HUSKERMAX tailgate!

Loving the idea of the race and seeing all the runners sporting their colors!!!

I hated to run then as well. I kept asking "Why are we running when we have perfectly good vehicles right over there?"

My boot camp time was the fastest I ever ran. 20:40 for the 3 mile, when I got out my last run was 27 mins plus or minus a few seconds. This body was not meant for running.

I'm thinking about it. It is an easy ride down from the Brew City.

Just got signed up for the race. I have been looking forward to it since I first read about it. Looking forward to the trip to Chicago and I think the course should be very scenic, right along lake Michigan. Great way to kick off the football season(practice starts 5 days later). Fairly new to running so this will be my longest distance in a timed race. Go Big Red!

I've been signed up for over a month, but there is no way that we will be the most represented school. Too many Illinois, Michigan State and Michigan alums. Still should be a fun event. Although first-time races of this size don't always go off so well. Organizing a large race isn't as easy as it seems.

Good job windy, you predicted the top three. How do you think the legends division is going to turn out this year?

Seems we don't do as well with our feet as we do with our butts in chairs in front of a computers.

I had heard that fans from Ohio State and Penn State were not allowed to participate in any pre season running events....must have been a rumor!

Is that where they got the line these colors don't run?
