    religion and presidency...

History suggests, however, that piety and presidential performance don’t always match. Some of America’s most religious presidents have been its most brutal. And two of its greatest presidents wouldn’t even be considered Christians today, scholars say.

Religion and its trappings are man-made.

The Pharisees were religious; Jesus wasn't impressed.

Not to derail the thread, but I find this notion that because Jesus criticized the hypocrisy of the Pharisees he was opposed to all organized religion to be false. If Jesus was opposed to all organized religion, his apostles certainly did not get the message, since they immediately set to setting up an organized church for Christianity, with bishops and deacons and rules. What Jesus opposed was hypocrisy, not organized religion itself.

Hell no, I dont want the POTUS having to resolve that quandry as well as the ills of the nation. An athiest, or a man of faith. But one in the middle not so much.

I don't care what the PotUS is along as he is open and candid about his beliefs.

So you want the president to express his views in a sweet and sugary way?

    religion and presidency...

I'd just like someone who took Isaiah 58:1-12 seriously.
