Thread: Wish me luck!

    Wish me luck!

This afternoon I am flying my daughter up to summer camp near the Wisconsin Dells. At 133 nautical miles, this is by far the longest trip I have taken since getting my license. The weather conditions appear to be very good, but not ideal. Coming back home, I will be landing in a decent cross-wind, which I don't like, but it is nothing I haven't done a hundred times before. The biggest wrinkle is that President Obama is in town, and my home airport is in restricted airspace. I will have to be in contact with air traffic control from the moment I leave the ground. The procedure doesn't appear to be that hard, but is something I have never done by myself before.

By doing this, my total travel time will be 2.5 hours instead of 8 hours. I'm both nervous and excited.

    Have a very safe trip.

Aim high! Have a great voyage and take some pictures/videoclips of your approach for proper critique! That's a hell of a father's day to remember!

    Mad props!

It ended up being a great trip, thanks for all the well wishes. Here are few shots we took from the trip:

This is Fermi Laboratories. I am not sure of the purpose of the two perfect water canal circles.

This is Madison, Wisconsin. It is such a cool town. We gave a thumbs up to still-Governor Walker as we flew by just to make Warhorse mad.

This is the crappy station wagon that the airport let us borrow for free. I was worried that the front hood, which would not shut completely, was going to pop up when we were on the highway.

And here's a couple shots of the camper. There were predictably some tears when we had to part ways, but at least my daughter didn't cry.

Glad to hear you made it safely. RedPhoenix owes me 20 bucks because I took Rodney King in the death pool and he took you. Woot!
