Cravens to decided at 11:30 AM PST Today: Huskers NOT in his final four

The final four honestly a surprise.....its a fact he was going to visit Nebraska and Michigan last weekend or so he told Husker recruiting sites....so quite the surprise indeed....I still think USC wins though Michigan is said to be the other top team (Hoke recruited him when he was at San Diego State)....oh well best of luck to him....

At approximately 11:30 a.m. PST, Cravens will announce his college decision. Cravens has narrowed his vast list of college choices to four schools, UCLA, USC, Michigan and Ohio State.

While he had planned on unofficially visiting Michigan and Ohio State last week, the trip to the Midwest conflicted with finals at Vista Murrieta High School. Cravens has taken recent unofficial visits to UCLA and USC.
Cravens has been quiet about his remaining choices, although his father, Kevin, did explain why each of his final four choices made the final cut before Wednesday's announcement.

"Education is something we stress as a family," said his father. "For us, this decision came down to the schools that addressed education first and football second."

    From another article:

Other schools in the mix for Cravens are the UCLA Bruins, Ohio State Buckeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers, although they're far more likely to finish in third place in this race than actually win it all. Either USC or Michigan will be landing a stud safety that could hold down the back line of the defense for years to come.

UCLA seems to come out of nowhere and get recruits that we are interested in, so I'm going to go with my gut and say he chooses them.

Does Cravens choosing to go somewhere other than Nebraska mean we are now scrambling to find guys named Cravens? I quick search and he looks like the only kid named Cravens.

Looks like we are going to have to settle for this guy....

My completely uneducated guess was off. That's why they don't pay me the big bucks.

Yes they will....this is the first year of losing 10 skollies a year for the next three years....that is going to hurt them....depth wise and you normally figure only about 50% of the recruits that come in participate to any great degree....

I was really hoping somehow we could get him here but once he canceled the visit, it was pretty bleak.

The only way this won't hurt them is if they some how hit correctly on every single kid they bring in and that just isn't likely.

Dont take this as a slam against the Huskers but it wouldnt surprise me if during the next three years they have a better record each year than Nebraska...Big 10 is tougher and they will be very solid this year, thats for sure. I think if they miss at QB then they will feel the brunt of the sanctions but if they get that position filled they will be top 10ish

I don't think they are going to fall off as much as people would like to believe.

They have their pick of the litter in California and will push the limits as to oversigning as much as anyone. Plus, I'd venture to guess that having the smaller limits is going to force them to be a bit more selective.

Losing 30 scholarship over the next three years is going take a toll and not all of the 15 kids they are allowed to recruit (yearly) in that period will make it with them....its just what it is....and its going hurt them....even if they get selective....we've seen ourselves how some 4 and 5 star kids just don't deliver and when you are already limited it will take its toll....

    USC is not super human....

Just don't see them falling off. They might be limited in numbers but they will adjust. That just means they will be more aggressive in their oversigning and the trimming of their fat. They will carry less dead weight that way. They won't bat a 1.000% in but they will likely hit on a high amount of their guys because of the added importance.

Heck...we've only been around 81 scholarships (and that's with plenty of dead weight) entering fall camp the last 3-4 years (before we award the walk-ons)and we've been winning 9-10 games just fine in tougher conferences and we don't bring in near the raw talent that USC does on an annual basis.

I don't see them winning 6 straight national championships, but I don't see them with a bunch of 7-5 and 8-4 seasons either.

What your saying just does not add up....sorry....you can't lose 30 scholarships and only have 15 commits a year and not fall off.....of which you will be lucky to get 8-10 to play any amount of time and say they are not going to fall off and the star rating of the guys they recruit doesn't matter in this equation....

I could easily see them losing 3-5 games a year in year three, four and five until they are able to restock so to speak...

Raw talent doesn't matter if you have no depth and half of that raw talent does not produce...its just the law of averages...
