    Doc Sadler

Anyone catch the Doc Sadler interview on 1620's Unsportsman Like Conduct yesterday (5/30/12) afternoon? I just caught the end and haven't went to listen to the podcast. In teh follow up discussion it sounded like he had some opertunities for work in the NBA for the summer program and maybe beyond. Also there may be some broadcasting with ESPN as an option.... or sit out a year. Any other tidbits that any picked up before I listed sometime?

Possible NBA assistant coach? Obviously, the NBA people don't read HuskerMax or they would know know that Doc cannot coach.
I really hate Penn State! (And I'm not that wild about Iowa either.)

Yep, lots of opportunities for next season. May do some media work, may travel around to different programs to pick up a few new tricks a la Frank Solich during the 2004 season. Nothing's been ruled out yet.

He understands things just didn't work out with him as the basketball coach and claims no ill will toward the school or the community or even the media. Very complimentary of the state in general. Believe I read/heard elsewhere that his kid is still set to attend UNL and he may be in the stands for basketball games next year.
If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.

Being an assistant may be Doc's calling. Not every great assistant is a great head coach. That's a simple fact.

I heard part of the interview and, as always, Doc comes off as a very likable guy...and I'm sure he is. But what he did at Nebraska can be classified as nothing but complete failure...your little jab notwithstanding.

Obviously, my comment was tongue-in-cheek. You may very well be correct that Doc is a better assistant than he is a head coach. But I am amused at how many have stated that he can't coach at all.

    Exactly.

Obviously, the guy couldn't recruit. So maybe the NBA is for him. An NBA assistant. That's fine -- if it even happens. And even then, it's not guaranteed success for Doc.

We do know this much: Doc failed at Nebraska. It's anyone's guess if he'll succeed elsewhere.

I always thought that Doc's problem @ Nebraska was that he could not get top talent to Nebraska, coaching kids up was a strength

The team has moved on. How about we do to. Doc was a nice guy and it didn;t work out. I wish him the best in whatever he does next.
