It does seem like Spain has been fairly content with just a 1 goal lead, and aren't really pressing too hard for that second goal. Maybe that comes back to bite them in the 2nd half.

I know, I was just pointing out how funny it was that we had different thoughts on the first half, posted right after each other.

Just as I finished this, Spain got goal #2. I think that's too much for Ireland to overcome.

Im pretty late in this conversation and have only watched the Germany games live, and they look really good. They need to work on some small details. It almost looked like they could score at will against the Netherlands in the first half. I really liked Gomez's reaction after his second goal. He almost looked arrogant. As if we can do this all day. The second half was a slightly different story. So who are your favorites at this point? I still have Germany and Spain. The obvious choices.

Wow Olaf Mellberg the CD with two early goals in half two and Sweden is ahead 2-1....the English defense looking putrid in both cases...

England!! Welbeck with a goal off of a great run by Walcott in minute 78.....England leads 3-2....wow what a great game....

The English showed some real back bone and spirit being down 2-1 and are on the verge of pulling this out...

And my mom is yelling 'England' in my boyhood home right now...

That was one amazing goal off a sideways backheel...for lack of any other real way to describe it.

Which game to watch online this afternoon? I don't really feel like switching back and forth between ESPN3 feeds, unless one becomes a blowout. I think I'll go with the Czech Republic/Poland match. Greece hasn't looked like a side that can compete for 90 minutes, so I'll take what seems to be the more interesting matchup. Essentially it's a winner moves on, loser goes home game for Czech Repulic/Poland. Also, I don't CR can assume a draw will be good enough to move on, can they?

it should make watching as a family much more interesting.
My Greece team and the wife's Czech team move on.

Czech could have moved on in a draw only if Greece beat Russia by 6 or more goals. Wikipedia has good summaries of each group mathematics.

The Dutch were a HUGE letdown, with all the talent they have and to not even get 1 point
