UEFA Euro 2012
My sportsbook's list of favorites:
1. Spain 5:2
2. Germany 3:1
3. Netherlands 7:1
4. England 9:1
5. France 12:1
6. Portugal 16:1
Biggest "yeah, right ": Russia, at 22:1, is the favorite in an essentially Eastern Europe Group A. I presume they put them all together in Group A with no top sides so as to keep the Eastern European money (especially Russian money), coming into the Ukraine for as long as possible during June.
Even though David Villa is still not healthy enough to play, I favor the Spaniards, because of their depth of talent. But Netherlands is my darkhorse (if you can call them that).

As long as England or France do not win the tournament, I will be ok....

You being a "Pub" man, I would think you would appreciate the Englanders!

I'm so waiting for the UEFA to bust my bookie...
here's a strategy I'm going to follow for the group matches....take the under total goals on the first and second games of group play since the teams want to keep their differentials to a minimum-and play much more defensively.

I think the Netherlands line is a pretty good one to take, and since I like long shots, I'd put down a large sum on Portugal, if I had a large sum to waste.

Yes, I like both those teams' odds, too. I put money on both of them. I also put money on Spain, in an amount which will allow me to break even if the favored Spaniards win. If Germany (or anyone else) jumps up and wins the tournament, I lose all around.
So Portugal would be my big payday. Netherlands would be juicy, too.

I'll be rooting for England of course....but they are beat up with three key players having to pull out with injuires....the EPL takes a toll on the players who play in the league...and it hurts England every major compeition they play in....and with Rooney gone for two matches they might struggle to get out of their group that includes France and Sweden....neither in their heyday right now but still good enough to beat England.....
Regardless I have my England shirt to wear and will root for my mom's county and my other country....
Germany wins the whole competiton...too strong and to well coached by Lowe....
Notre Dame only had one Rudy but Nebraska gets a new crop of Rudys every season

My family of four each picked one team from each group to root for, rotating the pick rotation.
Can't remember who I have off the top of my head for sure...but, I am pretty sure that I have Germany and Croatia as two of my four teams.
it should make watching as a family much more interesting.

Germany vs Portugal tomorrow, in what is by far the toughest group, Group B.
GGGGGOOOOOOOO
GERMANY!!!!!!
-
Yeah Portugal can be beat....they have one great player in Ronaldo and another good one in Nani...Germany is too good and too deep not to beat them....and Lowe is a great coach....

Tale of two games....shakey ref in game one today and great ref (Howard Webb of England is the worlds best ref in my opinion) in the second match...the big games he has officiated are longer than my arm...

Day 1 was sort of blah, but not of the countries in Group A excite me. Today is a great day to watch soccer. I'm actually kind of rooting for the Danes a little. They've got their work cut out for them, but there always seems to be a surprise team in the Euro's.

Close friend lives in Amsterdam so I will pull for Holland today and of course Germany...who I expect to win the whole thing thing...they are loaded and have the best depth in the tourney and hands-down the best coach....but yes two good games today....although Russia looked very impressive yesterday....
