The Vietnam war was over by the time I was born, and I will never, ever, understand the mistreatment of our war vets. I see the pictures, read the stories, watch the video clips, and it's like bizarro world. I can't even wrap my head around the idea.

In a strange way, the treatment of the Vietnam vets has paved the way for much, much better treatment of our vets today.

Even with soldiers fighting in a war viewed as, at best, unpopular by many, people have generally been capable of understanding a soldier's duty doesn't necessarily mean they completely agree with the reasons for or process of the war.
