Excellent 247 Article: "B(u)y The Numbers: QB Recruiting
88.5
Percent of 247Sports’ four- and five-star quarterback prospects have committed.
Only three of the 26 remain on the market: Narbonne (Calif.)’s Troy Williams is viewed as a Washington-Arizona battle; Winter Park (Fla.)’s Asiantii Woulard had been committed to South Florida and is now exploring his options, including this weekend’s visit to Florida; and Santa Margarita (Calif.)’s Johnny Stanton is presently seen by many colleges as more athlete than quarterback.
Fifteen of 247Sports’ top 16 pro-style quarterbacks have committed, as have nine of the top 10 dual-threats.
Great, short read.

I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man that had no feet.

It doesn’t matter if the glass is half full or half empty. What matters is you have a glass that has something in it. Some people have no glass, or have a glass with nothing in it. So appreciate all that is in your life and quit questioning whether your glass in half full or half empty.

I guess a little humor is lost on those that take themselves so seriously they can never admit another viewpoint might have merit, no matter the evidence. I don't operate in that "I am never wrong" or "I can't laugh at things" world. We might still land a good QB, but we ARE scrambling now, lots of the good ones are already taken. Hope we get one.

Based on Rivals, approximately 75 schools, more or less-didnt check to see if anybody but Va Tech had more than 1 commit-are currently scrambling for a QB.
What will they do?
"Just because somebody's a talented guy or he's right for a lot of people doesn't mean he's right for us here at Nebraska." -Bo Pelini, 2/3/10

The biggest things I'd want you to keep in mind is (a) de-commitments, (b) emerging prospects, and (c) time line.
(a) Kids constantly re-evaluate their decisions. Particularly with summer camps around the corner, things will get a bit more interesting. Kids talk at these camps, and over half of our current commits have been identified as active recruiters for Nebraska. That will continue this summer. Hopefully someone gets in Malik Zaire's ear.
(b) With those mentioned camps, kids will be continuously evaluated and upgraded. Others will come on the radar for the first time. While an unknown becoming a hot recruit isn't quite common, there will be plenty who get a more thorough look after their camp performances.
(c) It's May. I know other schools, particularly Michigan, are loading up on commits. But our number one sell has been and will continue to be game day, between the facilities and fans. Getting kids on official visits is enormous to our efforts. Even getting them on campus this summer is big. Samuelson? Committed after his weekend visit. Hart? Committed after his weekend visit. This period, between end of spring sports and beginning of camps, is more for information and unofficials.
This year in particular, the staff is all over it.

You'd have to ask them if QB was a priority for them this year. Our staff was going hard after QB's and seemed to want 2 QB's, so evidently it IS a priority for us. Here's a list of some teams that (I consider to be more like peers than some random selection of 75 schools) already have top rated QB's verballed.
USC
Michigan
Stanford
LSU
Alabama
Miami
Penn State
Oklahoma
Texas A&M (2)
Colorado
Virginia Tech (2)
South Carolina
Georgia
Arkansas
Auburn
Texas
Illinois
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Northwestern
Missouri

I hope you are right. Certainly, we could still find a gem, no doubt about it.

Were Joe Ganz and Taylor Martinez top rated QB's?

I would love to hear who is GFoA's choice for coach would be and how he would rate Dr. Tom's QB recruiting during his coaching time at NU. Lets see there was Turner Gill and Tommy Fraiser and.... (Crickets churping). Point is Lincoln is not ease to recruit too, we fans have a unrealistic view of NU and it simply is not ease to convince a stud QB to come to the middle of nowhere and with no reputation of QB's in the NFL. GFoA, what say you?
