I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.I wont give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and showed up for all wounded children.
When I was in high school the rivalry between Millard North and Millard West was just as fierce as Nebraska-Oklahoma. Everything the Mustangs were good at, the Wildcats were too - even outside of football. Even in marching band we were fiercely competitive. There was nothing I loved more than trouncing MW on a Friday night and then beating them in a marching competition on Saturday morning...
...and then going home and watching Husker football!
I never played football in highschool, but our football teams always beat Millard North in the regular season, but lost to North in the playoffs. Except my freshman year when MW won the state championship. We always said the steroids kicked in in the playoffs haha
29 Plams High School (29 Palms, CA) "Wildcats" Green, Gray and White
University of California at San Diego: Earl Warren College (LaJolla, CA) "Tritons" Navy Blue, Royal Blue, and Gold
University of California at Riverside (Riverside, CA ) "The Highlanders" Sky Blue and Gold
United States Air Force Officer Professional Military Education Blue & Silver
So basically you went to high school in hell and college in heaven.
Lincoln Pius X Thunderbolts Green and Gold
US Marines, not really an alma mater, but other people are listing military service.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhuskers Scarlet and Cream (Class of 2014, hopefully, maybe)
Another Millard North grad here, apparently somewhat younger than ThotDoc and significantly older than DTHusker (there was no MW when I was in school and North was only 5 yrs old when I graduated).
Then... Indiana University for BA and MS. Though I must respectfully correct Evansville Husker, IU's colors are Cream and Crimson, not the other way around, "...we will fight for the Cream and Crimson, for the glory of old IU." I guess that make's me a purist, or just a picky contrarian SOB, but every bit a Hoosier!
My senior year FHS lost a district championship game in basketball by one point when the Columbus all star player (Todd Trofholz?) took about four steps without putting the ball on the floor before launching a prayer that went in at the buzzer. FHS would have played in the first state tournament game ever in the Devaney Center if they would have won that game. Alas, 'twas not to be.
Todd was in my class.
Good friends, you take to the movies. Great teammates, you take to battle.
