    Commit #8: OL Dan Samuelson

    Player Profile

We've been hearing that there'd be a flip to Nebraska in the coming days, turns out we're snagging a Pitt commit.

The eighth commit for Nebraska’s 2013 recruiting class comes a bit out of the blue. Or whatever primary color Pittsburgh wears.247Sports has confirmed that Dan Samuelson, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman from Plymouth, Ind., switched his commit from Pitt to NU Tuesday after visiting Lincoln over the weekend.
The Panthers’ new coach, Paul Chryst, was Wisconsin’s offensive coordinator for several years.
A three-star prospect rated as the nation’s No. 40 offensive guard, Samuelson had offers to Illinois, Minnesota and Bowling Green, among others. Plymouth is 30 miles south of South Bend, Ind.

Looks like Coach Garrison got him to flip....looks like there will be no qualifying issues.. Had only committed to Pitt on 25 April....

EDIT: Visited Lincoln this past weekend....

From his film he looks like a really good pick-up...

    Personal Statement

Thank you for viewing my profile. My junior season is now complete, and new highlight film has just been added for your review. I am improving consistently with my academics, size, strength, speed, and agility. I appreciate the coaching and guidance that has already been given to me, and I will project a superior attitude as a leader for my high school teams as I train to become qualified to play college football. Since I have not yet decided on a college major or location, I am open to any alternatives that may become available.

    FYI....

He's a very physical run blocker," Plymouth High School coach John Barron said of Samuelson. "Not only was his size what attracted a lot of people, but his length attracted people. He has long legs, long arms, and he moves real well. He's a guy we can pull and trap with. We can run power behind him.

"Dan is the type of kid who fits what we do at Plymouth, but certainly is a fit for major colleges. Even though we don't throw a lot, he can play tackle and block that real athletic edge player. I think that's what people project him to be."
"He's a really athletic big kid," Barron said. "Plus, he's an A-B student. He's a kid who's never been in trouble, he's never going to get in trouble. He's a tremendous leader for us. He lives in the weight room and loves it."

Yeah he is a hoss on film....pancake special....

I'm thinking due to a lack of film, other than the one site I found, he may be a tad underrated...time will tell...

I like the fact that he mentioned academics first.
