    GOP has a major dilemma...

their major core of constituents are dying out....

"The Republicans' problem is their voters are white, aging and dying off," said David Bositis, a senior research associate at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, who studies minority political engagement.

Looks like the Dems major core is diminishing as well.....

The number of immigrants coming illegally to the United States has been declining for several years. Demographers have repeatedly said as much, and now a report by the Pew Hispanic Center confirms it — illegal migration from Mexico is virtually at a standstill. Last year, about 6.1 million Mexicans were illegally in the country, down from a high of 7 million in 2007.

Unless Dems can invent a way to make deficit spending infinitely sustainable, there will always be Republicans of some description.

Well, I guess i will switch parties on my death bed so there will be one less democrat in this world.

Republicans do have a shrinking demographic. The two party system has existed for 250 years because parties adapt, albeit at a glacial pace, so that they are attractive to 51% of the population. The Dems had to go through a similar process when unions became a fraction of their former size and southerners switched parties in massive numbers. Republicans will do the same thing. I still think there will come a day when Republicans consistently get a majority of the Hispanic vote. That may be a couple decades away, but I think it will happen.

Demographics are always changing and the values of groups inside demographic are always changing. To read that this will have an automatic benefit to the Democrats is a very shallow look at the past and prospect of the future. There are a number of outside factors that could change the views of those demographics (such as the great depression did, the civil war, or even the civil rights movement).

Republicans will probably take a page from the Democrats playbook and work to change perceptions about them rather than actually change.

Hopefully nobody will notice that the death panels only select Republicans for premature death.

Aren't everyone's members dying off? The real question is who is joining the groups. He speaks of Latinos but their vote has always went with the left candidate. The numbers alone will generate a larger supporting block for the left, but many "experts" are have opined that the Latino vote will actually shift a bit to the right compared to previous and current voting trends, if for nothing else than religious ideology.

We all should get jobs like this author. Check out his previous dinger regarding blacks and Obama's gay marriage stance. According to Dr. Bositis, apparently the black population may OR may not care about the president's stance. Go figure.

The republican plan is to continue to cut education. Much easier to fool dumb people.

The GOP's return from the fringe right vacation it has been on would be the best thing to happen to American politics in quite some time.

If that means they gain additional power, so be it. The ideologues have had their time in the sun.

Time to get back to work.

Hear Hear! By all means, let's return to the ways of old that brought us into our current position.

Enough of those demanding a change in the accustomed ways of our past.
