Why it matters that Obama dated a composite and ate a dog
Why didn’t we know all these details four years ago – even though some of them were published in a best-selling autobiography that was sold to us as if it was a fifth gospel? And yet we knew everything there was to know about Sarah Palin, despite the fact that she was in the race for a much shorter space of time than Obama – and only running for veep.
That’s the significance of the canine and composite revelations – both of them, aside from their delightful “dish” factors, not really revelations at all. That we are only discussing them this late into Obama’s career suggests that the vetting that should have happened four years ago was unforgivably neglected.

His autobiography was thoroughly vetted and discussed ad nauseum. The reason these issues weren't raised four years ago is that they are complete non-issues.

Whether or not they are non-issues is not the point. The point is he didn't get the same scrutiny Sarah Palin did as a VP candidate.

Nobody prevented the scrutiny. Plus what Chi said. Fox News probably bought several dozen copies of his book, why didn't they say anything in 2008?

A point that is absolutely untrue. A point that is undermined by the fact that these supposedly "unknown" issues were publicly available for anyone to read in a best-selling book. Hillary and McCain's campaigns, between the two of them, thoroughly vetted Obama's background, and the media was more than happy to cover everything they came up with. Have you forgotten about the Tony Rezko house deal, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, or the birth certificate?
The difference between Obama and Palin is that Obama's background withstood the scrutiny and Palin's did not. The nomination of Palin was a colossal mistake that may have cost McCain the election.

If only we hadn't been so distracted by his muslimness and non-citizenship, then maybe we would have gotten around to these extremely important matters...
...really? Is the assertion REALLY that Obama's background has been insufficently researched up to this point?

#1 Infractor

A couple points of fact are his past associations and lack of real experience and leadership, of which the mainstream media (abc, CBS, NBC) ignored. However, what Palin reads and misquoting her comments about seeing Russia were front page news.

Would you like me to find you similar stories on Wright and Rezko? Or will you concede that the media did not "ignore" the issue.

Did Sarah Palin get breast implants? That seems to be the question du jour. Palin showed up to the Belmont Stakes last weekend wearing a white t-shirt that has some people saying her girls might have been surgically enhanced.
Huffington Post
No, I have not had implants. A report like that is about as real and truthful as reports that [my husband] Todd and I are divorcing or that I bought a place in the Hamptons or that [my son] Trigg is not my own child.

Wait, so Palin was thoroughly vetted before getting the VP nod? Is that the assertion going on here? Because that's pretty humorous.

I imagine it matters to the OP because it helps reinforce his confirmation bias.

And here I thought you were the one who had clearly established your "confirmation bias" here!
