As Cornfield noted good range on the jumper and nice dunk off pick and roll. From watching briefly on tape he would have made last year's team so I don't know why anyone would knock the young man. At the very least it's a roster upgrade with the potential to be so much more.

A buddy of mine was an assistant with the Canadian Jr. Women's team when they played at the World's in Serbia. He said you couldn't turn around without bumping into a church or a basketball hoop.

No! If he was signed by Doc he would either be so fat and out of shape that he could not be able to run up and down the floor with out having to stop for a smoke, or Doc would have no idea about his grades and then blame the clearing house for doing their job, or the young man's knees or feet would be so bad that they would be in casts or at least crutches their first day of practice!

So no, don't even compare Docs recruiting to Mr Miles!

I don't want to ruin Skunk's rep, but I have to report that he is a very hospitable and generous guy, besides being a super Husker fan.

What do you have against 7'1 players with offers from ACC, SEC and BigTen schools?

This isn't Doc Sadler. This is a new coach. A new coach who has done nothing to warrant such constant negativity from some. It always amazes me how some go through life constantly dwelling on the negative.

I agree. Although I will say it's not like Nebrasketball and optimism/hope usually go in the same sentence. But like I said in the other thread I started, I just get a good feeling about what is going on. I think this ship gets turned around under Miles. No, we will never be a KU or Duke, but I think he gets us that coveted tourney win while in Lincoln.

    Yep.

Of course there's never any guarantees for success when it comes to Husker hoops -- and we have plenty of history to back that up. But I do strongly believe you have to stand behind the new coach 100%. Give him the benefit of the doubt unless he proves otherwise down the road. There's plenty of reason for optimism (which Miles' personality alone gives some), but maybe the biggest right now is that we aren't entering another season with Doc. The vast majority of us realized it had reached a dead end.

Anyhow, as I've said probably a dozen or more times now, Tim Miles has me more excited for Husker hoops than I've felt in 15+ years.

and wasn't even the player to do the jump ball at the beginning of the game.

Sounds like a typical Nebraska basketball player to me!!!
I'm pretty sure that was him who won the jump ball.

50sec. in he comes off a pick and roll and jams it down with authority, that itself would be a welcome change. I personally believe that nothing gets the crowd juiced more than a dunk with attitude or a big blocked shot.

Wrong, he's standing outside the circle with his blue tenny's on.

Win some games, then I'll be optimistic.

Why the negativity? For the first time in my life NU has really taken a vested interest in BBall. They didn't just decide, "hey, lets put a little money into our BBall program" They are dumping a ton of money in the program. And even though we haven't played a game yet, Miles has already gotten higher profile recruits just to visit than we ever have before. Would it really kill people to be excited and hope for the best? It really appears that NU is making an effort for once so why don't we celebrate that fact with some excitement and optimism. Would you go into a marriage saying "50% of marriages fail so I'm not getting my hopes up till I know it works?"

Honestly it doesnt matter one bit if we are excited or neutral in regards to the program.....how we feel has zero impact about how things go...Some people are excited and thats fine...myself I am a results kinda guy and until I see them I will temper my excitement

Well, I don't think it's right for anyone to be bashed for not be excited, but I think you're wrong that it doesn't make any difference. Visible fan support helps recruit and motivate players. They want to be a part of something big, and if they see excitement, it is very attractive. Kind of like a football recruit seeing 70,000 fans turn out for a spring game.
    Moving on...

Exactly. I just think that everyone deserves a chance before they get the normal negativity. In Dr. Tom I trust and I don't think he has made a bad hire yet so I think we at least owe it to him to be cautiously optimistic. They are doing things here that have never been done, we should be optimistic in the fact that they are really putting forth the effort to be relevant. That's a start.
