Celebrating their 50 years as a group, albeit Brian Wilson hasn't toured with the group since the mid-60s. Still, I and my wife, step-daughter and grandkids got to see them the other night in Grand Prairie (suburb of Dallas). It was a great show and thrilled to see Brian Wilson performing and touring with the group this time around! I've been luck enough to see them back in the early 80's when they play Rosenblatt, and a couple times since then, but they sound as great as ever. Granted, the Boys are getting up there and their solo's showed the signs og their aging, but the close harmonies were/are as great as ever, and the fun of the Beach Boys sound was still a joy to hear and experience.
The best part of the night was two songs they did as tributes to Carl and Dennis Wilson. The live performers sang/played backup while a video screen showed taped footage of the two brother singing songs they soloed or sang as lead (Dennis on a song called "Forever", and Carl on ""God Only Knows"). If any of you get a chance or are thinking about seeing them when they come to your area, I think you'll enjoy it. Performing were Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks and Brian Johnston. Their backups were members mostly of Brian Wilson's touring band, with some from Love's and Jardine's touring bands.
