4* Husker Target Aaron Bailey Commits To Illini
Beckman Gets His Man In Bailey
“I feel with the great group of guys they have and great coaches they have, I can help contribute and bring the program back to the top. Why not rebuild in the home state where people love you? Plus they have one of my (Bolingbrook senior) offensive lineman in Robbie Bain going there to protect me.”

First off, I apologize for toting this one as 'in the bag.' I was clearly mistaken, and I'm still surprised at this one. He states in the article that he chose Illinois over his other finalist, Nebraska. With Ohio State and Wisconsin out of contention, I simply thought we had it. Apparently, the pull to stay in-state and be the face of the home university was strong.
All crow-eating aside, congratulations to Bailey on his commitment. Though I hate it, I think he'll do well there in that offense. Scheelhaase has had a great deal of success, and I think Bailey can too.
As for where Nebraska goes from here? Well, we'll cover that soon - but not tonight. I'm still ticked.

This is not a good development.

Wow indeed...what the hell....
Notre Dame only had one Rudy but Nebraska gets a new crop of Rudys every season

It's gotten late very early. Nebraska hasn't had much success in the QB market at all.

Man, this kid is the next suburb over -- I was actually going to go see him play this fall. Not so much now.

Big Red Fan!!!

Good luck to the young man. Apparently he was not the right one.

So who is the other silent commit?

And outside of "losing" Barrett to Ohio State, we're losing to inferior talent in Northwestern (Alviti) and now Illinois. I don't care if Northwestern beat us this year, we're a better program. I really don't consider Barrett a "loss," because we were never high up on his list.
But in short, yeah - you're right. And it bites.

I'm hoping he saw video of Tommy Armstrong & got scared away. That's the only bright side I can come up with.

I suspect the distance may have been a factor in this one....just a thought....

Frankly, their depth chart is a lot more appealing than ours.
Only one guy with more than two years left to play? Much more attractive than competing against our depth chart. Not saying that was a deciding factor. But I'm sure it was at least mentioned by Illinois' staff.

I was going to suggest my daughters HS QB but he just committed to Mizzou this week...

As for Hosick, yeah - Missouri bound. Him and Nick Ramirez (Husker target at LB, 4*) committed not far apart from one another and really got that fanbase pumped. They're pretty excited to see in-state talent staying close.

Yup my daughter is pretty good friends with Morgan Steward too who signed with MO for this years class. It will be interesting to see how well Trent does next year without Morgan. Let's just say I think it's a good thing he already got his commitment in. I think Staley is going to miss Steward a bunch.

This is early days in the recruitment process, but I like that the coaching staff is targeting top level players. Hopefully, we can grab most of them............

Let's not try to rationalize this away with an "Oh well, whatever." We wanted Bailey, and we didn't get him. This is bad news. The coaching staff needs to be working the phones like crazy and booking flights to wherever there is a QB that fits our offense.

Good question.
