Who did we recruit instead of Kirk Cousins?

This morning on Schick & Nick in Omaha a beat writer from East Lansing finished his interview about Michigan St. by stating that Cousins grew up a big time Husker fan. He really wanted to play here but never received an offer. The writer said had he been offered he would have accepted immediately. Does anyone recall who we may have taken then instead of Cousins? Witt maybe?

Our QB in that class was Blaine Gabbert until Callahan was fired.....a 5-star rated QB....so Cousins had no chance....Bo had to scramble after that and we able to get Cody Spano after OSU took his offer away...

Cousins only had five offers: Michigan State, Colorado, N. Illinois, Toledo and W. Michigan.....rated a low 5.5 3-star....

Not highly thought of or recruited....so the story sounds nice from the beat writer....he left some of the story out though....

EDIT: I was off by a year actually 2007 class....we signed Zac Lee (JUCO 4-star) and Patrick Witt (3-star).....so you were correct on Patrick Witt....
Notre Dame only had one Rudy but Nebraska gets a new crop of Rudys every season

    Thanks...

Point being that Cousins was not highly recruited or regarded....so there was a reason why he was not offered by Nebraska....and got only two major D-2 offers...Michigan State and Colorado....

Yeah, since when has being highly recruited or regarded been at the top of our criteria? Perhaps the real point to be made is that there ARE diamonds in the rough, but it's hard to find them. Joey Ganz comes to mind.
