I would give my life for anyone one of them as i would my own family. -Pops
It doesn’t matter if the glass is half full or half empty. What matters is you have a glass that has something in it. Some people have no glass, or have a glass with nothing in it. So appreciate all that is in your life and quit questioning whether your glass in half full or half empty.
TO was a man of faith as well. He didn't go around embarrassing the university like Brown is. good man. Good coach. But he needs a filter and a lesson in "appropriate time and place".

The only thing Brown did wrong is list a UNL address as his contact information. Aside from his resume listing him as a respected collegiate coach there is no indication that he is representing the University of Nebraska ... he has done nothing wrong.
He is entitled to his opinion and he is entitled to envangelize his opinion. He was hailed when he led the Penn State-Husker pre-game prayer. Since when does a man of faith have to restrain his beliefs? TO doing it his way is no better or no worse than Coach Brown.
His message may be controversial and hard for some people to hear but that doesn't mean he isn't entitled to share his message. I think he's regarded as a good recruiter because he connects well with players, in large part due to his faith.
Disagree. He is entitled to his opinion and unless there is something in his contract that says he is not allowed to voice his beliefs the University could be in big trouble if they would get rid of him for voicing his 1st amendment rights. As long as HE doesn't discriminate I don't think there is much they can do.

Concur. As long as it's understood he's not representing the University, he should have as much right to speak about this subject as someone who disagrees with his stance. Gays/Lesbians want equal rights, etc and want their message to be heard, but as soon as someone disagrees with this they want to shut them up and bring up freedom of speech... That freedom of speech applies to both sides.
The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.
"The last 11 days we focused on Nebraska," said Snyder, "and now I know more about them than I want to."
I would laugh if he had a child that came out of the closet.
I am sure he would still love them as long as they didn't come out in a black spider man costume. I really have a hard time looking at that. I have to put one hand up and cover that while I type.
The problem is that his notoriety at least in the beginning came from his position at the university so while he may be just as known for his beliefs (FCA) and even though he may state that his is not speaking as a university official every time he makes these ignorant public statements it will usually be noted as UNL FOOTBALL COACH Ron Brown...not citizen Ron Brown

This. This. This.
You cannot separate one from the other. If you wish to extend equal rights to any class of people, you must also extend that right to the ones who disagree with them.

Even TO had to learn about this... as did the Bobfather...
TO signed a petition supporting the Nuclear Freeze... and then retracted it after it became a public issue (the proponents talked it up and used it)... There may have been another one, I have kind of forgotten...
Bobfather's experience in public advocacy was lobbying the legislature for a cigarette tax to build what became The Bobfather... he made a comment that it made him the enemy of the states smokers despite two National Championships...

Let's not forget University of Nebraska is a PUBLIC school. Meaning that OUR tax dollars are used to support them and all of the organizations that result. Sure he can have his own opinions considering this is America and we're free to speak our mind but as someone who's paycheck comes from the state (which is not aligned with any religion in particular) and still pushes his pseudo-"religious" remarks it's clear that he's breaking rules and needs to face devastating consequences.
How do you think some of the players on the team who are gay feel about this situation? this is definitely not constructive to a warm atmosphere in the locker room.

Ignorant only because it doesn't fit your belief.....

Did you have an issue with him leading a prayer before the PSU game?
