Wow, if that's true he's a complete moron.

Here is what is on the 10/11 web site now

    http://www.1011now.com/home/headline...148370755.html

University of Nebraska Cornerback, Alfonso Dennard was arrested during the Friday night bar break.
According to Lincoln Police Captain Jason Stille 2:15 a.m. Sunday was the time officers first noticed the UNL football player near 14th and O Streets.
Stille said Dennard was in a verbal argument with another man and the intensity of the argument was escalating. Officers separated the two who each went their separate way.
According to Captain Stille, within moments officers watched Dennard get into another argument with a different man. Officers separated them too.
Stille says as Dennard was walking away, he bumped into a third man, turned and struck him in the chest. That is when officers went to arrest the 22-year-old for assault.
Dennard pushed one officer then struck him on the left side of his face. Stille said four officers were needed to take Dennard who is 5'10" and 205 lbs. into custody.
    The officer was not hurt.
Dennard was cited for assaulting the man but lodged in jail for assaulting an officer, a felony, and resisting arrest.
As of 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Dennard was still in the Lancaster County Jail

Well I'm sure THAT night did not go as planned!

Sounds like he was looking for a fight. He was involved with a verbal or physical confrontation with three individuals after the bars closed.

    Very. Expensive. Mistake.

Sheesh. Chalk up another casualty to Demon Rum.

Too bad Al Davis has expired. He would have considered him a perfect candidate for the Raidahs.

OK here is a little different opinion.
This isn't the first time a football player who has used his eligibility has been arrested after a intervention with the Lincoln police department. Who antagonized who? I am not that quick to judge when it comes to he said I said.
Lincoln has a police department that is less than tolerant of downtown bars. So what do you you think the attitude in the police department is? Been to many games and Lincoln over the years and having watched the police in action with 40 some thing adults there are some bad apples who were not trained to work with people.
Denard is a high profile individual he may be wrong.
Denard may have been provoked too?
What do you think recruits think? Maybe the police department can play football and pay the bills at the University.
    Just an opinion.

It doesn't matter if he was provoked. He has to know what is on the line and go about his life accordingly right now. He is not just another guy at a club as he has a lot more to lose than Joe six-pack.

Meh. He ain't on the roster anymore anyway.

The way I see it, he's free to make his own decisions now. I wish him the best, but I don't feel as upset as if it were Martinez, Bell, Burkhead, etc.

Wow. Less than a week from the draft! What an odd way to show teams you are aggressive. I am thinking they could have just watched tape of the SC game to know that.

Blaming the police for this or even suggesting that is stupid.

Tossed from the bowl game ... and now this. I'd be pretty surprised to see Dennard go in the first round now (maybe some team will overlook his issues, but his stock has likely dropped with the majority of teams). Amazingly costly mistake.
