University of Nebraska Cornerback, Alfonso Dennard was arrested during the Friday night bar break.
According to Lincoln Police Captain Jason Stille 2:15 a.m. Sunday was the time officers first noticed the UNL football player near 14th and O Streets.
Stille said Dennard was in a verbal argument with another man and the intensity of the argument was escalating. Officers separated the two who each went their separate way.
According to Captain Stille, within moments officers watched Dennard get into another argument with a different man. Officers separated them too.
Stille says as Dennard was walking away, he bumped into a third man, turned and struck him in the chest. That is when officers went to arrest the 22-year-old for assault.
Dennard pushed one officer then struck him on the left side of his face. Stille said four officers were needed to take Dennard who is 5'10" and 205 lbs. into custody.
The officer was not hurt.
Dennard was cited for assaulting the man but lodged in jail for assaulting an officer, a felony, and resisting arrest.
As of 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Dennard was still in the Lancaster County Jail
