    Mo Purify, "always a Cornhusker"

Received this photo & note from a reader:

I was at the Iowa Barnstormer game in Des Moines Sat night and Maurice Purify was tearing up the place with one great catch after another. ... He was wearing a Nebraska lumbar spine pad, exposed, during the game. The Hawkeye and Cyclone fans were giving him the business about it but he sure backed it up with stellar play. He is nearly unstoppable in arena football. If they cover close he goes deep, if they give him room he moves the chains. And, they can’t tackle him.

I would be bitter too if had to have spent time as a husker with BC. The BC taint prolly hurt some more than others.

Love it. He is the anti-Nicks. I want to see him get a shot at the NFL but I hope he stays in Arena through into the summer. I have tickets right on the boards when Arizona comes to Spokane to play in June.

This is good to see as I remember reading or hearing the total opposite during his time in the NFL (as far as Husker pride). Also heard that it wasn't talent that kept him from excelling in that league but rather work ethic.

This is what I recall of many of the seniors in 2007. Bitterness toward NU fans for being unhappy with a 5-win season.

Time heals all wounds, and I'm glad he's proud to be a cornhusker. I'm glad he's doing well at Arena ball, and wish him the best.

"I love it here," Pelini said. "I've said this before: This is not a steppingstone job. This is a destination. I enjoy what I'm doing here, I love who I'm working with, I love who I'm working for. I'm not looking for another job. I'm committed to winning a championship here. I'm passionate about winning a championship here."

I always wanted mo' of Mo. Thought he was under-utilized while he was here.

I really don't care what he said on his way out. If he considers himself a Husker, I consider him a Husker, and I'll celebrate his accomplishments.

He's more of what a Husker is than Carl Nicks ever will be, IMO.

Nicks is not a Husker by his own silly admissions stating he is from this elem school or that middle school. I personally have no need for C.Nicks.

Who cares. Nicks has made silly mistakes that many men at his age had made. If the current coach and AD can forgive why can't fans as if somehow we are more important.

It's hilarious that some Husker fans are so tied up on this. Can he not be proud of his HS? Can he not be proud of his JUCO? If he announces Nebraska next (he's hinted that he likely will do just that), do fans of his High School get all worked up and claim he doesn't belong?

    Enough with the silliness.
