Chris Davis hits the Orioles league leading 70th homerun and Baltimore cruises past Kansas City 8-2. I'll be at Camden Yards tomorrow afternoon for the second game of the series.

Perhaps the long awaited swoon by the Orioles has begun. Even though they are still tied for the division lead, they have now dropped three straight and 6 of their last 8. All of a sudden, the team leading the league in homers is having a tough time with run production and is stranding lots of runners on the bases. We shall see as they have begun a road trip and have been stellar on the road.

No pressure... your old man's only the one of the greatest Orioles there ever was...

The Baltimore Orioles are continuing the tradition of adding the Ripken name to their roster. The Orioles selected Ryan Ripken, the son of former Baltimore shortstop Cal Ripken Jr., in the 20th round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

I was at the ballpark yesterday afternoon when the Orioles won their 9th straight extra innings game 5-4 in 10. They won Saturday in 12 innings against the Phillies 6-4. Even though the Orioles have swooned before the last two wins losing 10 out of 13, they are still only 1 game out of first. The Orioles may continue to falter, but if the game goes extra frames, I'll take my chances with the birds.

The swoon continues. I'm sitting in Camden Yards today in 98 degree heat and the Orioles starter is pitching batting practice. Already 5-0 in the 4th with two homers and three doubles. The Orioles starters have stopped pitching, the bullpen is getting used up and they have stopped hitting.

Today is the first day that Jim Thome is in the lineup. The Orioles picked up the almost 42 year old for his homerun power to short right and clubhouse leadership.

After falling 10 games behind the Yankees on July 18, the Orioles with a 12-0 win against Toronto tonight coupled with the Rays win over New York, have tied the Yankees for first place again in the AL East.

Just put in my order for playoff tickets. That will probably kind it for sure.

This team just keeps getting it done. Last night they rallied with two in the 9th to tie and finally won it in the 18th inning over Oakland 4-2. This is the 14th straight extra inning game the O's have won this year and have won 9 straight extra inning games on the road. They are 20 games over .500 for the first time since 1997 and are again tied for 1st in the AL East. Who'd have thunk it?

really hope they actually win their division...that 1 game playoff is crap and it would be a shame for them to do so well and then lose the 1 game playoff and go home

I hear you, but the Yankees have gotten hot again and have won 7 straight while the Orioles have only won six straight.

How are the Orioles not selling out these games? 15 years since relevance and so many empty seats

Baltimore finishes 93-69, second in AL East and securing a wildcard berth. Raise your hand if you saw that happening back in March.

I had the Royals as a .500 team this season so I obviously don't know anything. Glad to see the Orioles break up the Yankee/Red Sox stronghold although I wish it was Tampa Bay instead of New York.

I am shocked the Orioles made the playoffs even though they have to go to Texas for a one game playoff. Had they won tonight, I had tickets for a wildcard game in Baltimore.

Both the Orioles, then the Yankees swept the Red Sox who finished the season losing eight straight.
