    Pi day!

Nobody better knock an excuse to eat large quantities of pie...

Happy Pi Day! A favorite holiday among geeks, March 14 commemorates one of the
    most fundamental and strange numbers
in mathematics. It's also Albert Einstein's birthday.
This is a great excuse to bake pies, as many iReporters have (send us your pie-report!). But there are also lots of reasons to celebrate this number: Pi appears in the search for other planets, in the way that DNA folds, in science at the world's most powerful particle collider, and in many other fields of science.
The world record for most digits memorized is 67890
so however much we all think each other sucks in the cafe at least none of us is that guy.
    NOW GO EAT PIE.

My daughter just came in second place in her sixth grade class for most digits memorized at 120. She knows 116 more digits than me.

If she ever hits over 1000 you should encourage her to explore hobbies that might be useful 120 isn't too ridiculous.

Since the competition is over, I have no doubt that at least 100 of the digits have egressed from her brain.

Yikes! She (and the one who beat her) have too much time on their hands - or a teacher with misplaced priorities! As an engineer-geek by college degree, I've always known 3.1415926, and haven't ever found a need to know more digits then that!

In honor of all of Rebecca Black's fans, such as Poyer and Showman:
