    Well I just watched...

Well I just watched Tommy Armstrong's senior highlights video for the first time a few moments ago and if you would like to dream of the future I suggest you take a look at it...

There first few plays blew my mind, after a few minutes you get used to him throwing 60yrd td passes...

This guy has all of the tools to be very succesful at the college level and would be perfect, imo, for the offense Pelini and Beck say they want to build

Its impressive. Hope he learns that playbook quickly and gets his opportunity.

If he isnt able to learn it quick enough maybe they can bring in Peyton Manning to teach T-Mart proper mechanics.

Texas came into the picture late, but Tommy told them he wasn't interested. Incredible athlete for sure.

He looks like the real deal. I would hate to see him have to wait til 2014 to see the field. I just hope he does his part to learn the playbook and then is given a chance to compete.

Me too. If he is 2nd string, lets hope we get up 40 points so he can get some PT.

Tommy looks smooth, we kept hearing how the playbook got simpler and hopefully Tommy can get at least ready for some action. Any opinions on whether or not he red shirts?

I think it would be incredibly difficult for Armstrong to unseat the two year starter in Carnes hasn't been able to do it yet. With that said, my vote is red shirt. I don't believe he'll be here for spring, so he'd have to pick it all up DAMN quick.

Exactly right. He'd start the season as no better than 3rd string and would be best served redshirting. It's not like Bo would give him much of a chance (if even one play) in backup duty anyhow. Let's cross our fingers that Armstrong doesn't transfer after spending his first two seasons not getting a snap.

I can understand a redshirt this fall, but to not get some quality snaps in 2013 would be stupid on Bo's part. If Armstrong is to start in 2014, he needs playing time and then, who knows what may happen.

Well, that's the first video I've seen of the kid and don't understand the hoopla. Granted, he's got more moves the Martinez, but I saw a lot of the same rainbows that Martinez throws, and if the DBs weren't laying on the grass, a couple of those passes wouldn't have made it to the highlight video. I also didn't see many hitting the guy in stride. I did notice though that when he threw into traffic his receivers wanted the ball, so he had confidence in his guys...and that's a huge thing. I definitely don't see him coming in and taking the reigns next year nor do I see enough to unseat a 4 year starter in 2013 if he redshirts next year. He'll be better than Martinez by the time he leaves Nebraska, especially since he has a better throwing motion now than Martinez does three years into the program.

I think he definitely gets a redshirt for 2012 but can you imagine the QB controvercy between Martinez, Carnes, and Armstrong in 2013? I'm definitely making the trip to that spring game...

Go back and watch it again. Look at the first three minutes

Highlight 1, he hits the guy in stride.
Highlight 2, he runs and hurdles a guy into the end zone. Doesn't stop and wait to get hit.
At the 1:10 mark, he keeps the play alive. Runs around.
1:36 hits the WR in complete stride. NU's receivers are the that open on a regular basis.
2:20 athletic as all out. Juked the jock strap off a few guys.
2:36 better pass than I've seen from Martinez since he's been here.
2:50 Hits another deep bomb in stride.

If they can block for him, Beck's offense is going to be a pisser to defend.

amen to that, he's like the anti-martinez, not to discredit taylor but he rarely makes a play out of nothing. Taylor's big plays usually come when his first, best option is open and then he takes off and 4 seconds later he's in the endzone... Armstrong isn't as blazing but he uses his feet to find a way to get up field or find an open receiver, he could be special...

I don't know how this guy can be any good. he doesn't throw off his back foot. He is, at times, elusive.
