I think people are confusing the Big 10 baseball tournement for the Big 12 tournement. THey certianly don't get the same crowds, do not have large numbers doing "road trips", nor the same weather, nor the same caliber of players or teams, nor the media interest. They just want somebody to take the tournement and preferably in a place where some fans might come. Our fans might be fooled for a few years that it is actually a conference tournement that leads to an NCAA Division 1 tourney birth. (I know it does, but usually only one)

I know the B1G is horrible in baseball, but that doesn't mean they can't do a conference tournament right. That would mean having the tournament in a nice ballpark (which Werner is), and in a place that's surrounded by lots of stuff do to, besides attend the games (which Werner isn't). Also, I don't really see the point of having the tournament in Omaha, unless they want to get the Nebraska fans to fill up seats. Like I said, good for Omaha, if they get the B1G tournament, but I just don't see how playing in Omaha makes any sense, unless you're playing at TD.

I think the idea is to get "some" fans, as opposed to absolutely no fans, which is what it gets now.
By having it perennially at Werner, you can build up some routine for the teams and fans, that option isn't available at TD, as the MVC tourney will become a mainstay there every other year (rotating with Wichita).

Haven't the Big 10 tourney games just been played at the Buckeye on campus stadium? Which is nothing special and not near anything. And if it's at the minor league park, have they built a new one. Because when I lived there it was near absolutly nothing and was really an old dump.
I think its at a AAA stadium in Columbus.

Amazing what you find out about locations when you look.
From the BIg 10 web site
2009 fisrt nutral site since 1994 Most held at the site of the REg season champ.

On Dec. 18, 2008, the Big Ten Conference and Greater Columbus Sports Commission announced that Huntington Park, the home of the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, would serve as the host site for the 2009 Big Ten Baseball Tournament.
The 2009 event marks the first neutral-site Big Ten baseball tournament since 1994 and just the third in history not held at the site of the regular-season champion or the champion from a pre-selected division.
The tournament bracket will be announced on the evening of the final day of regular-season competition. The Big Ten Baseball Tournament is a double-elimination event that awards byes to the top two teams. The Big Ten Champion is the winner of the regular season, while the Big Ten Tournament Champion receives the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Championship.Five different teams have been named Big Ten Tournament Champion in the event's 28-year history, with Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State owning the most titles with eight each. Illinois has won the tournament three times, and Indiana has taken home that crown once. Having won the last three regular-season championships, Michigan has hosted the last three tournaments, while the event was last held in Columbus in 2001. The 2009 tournament will be the sixth overall played in the city of Columbus.

Plenty of single-A parks in the footprint. The Midwest League has a lot of great stadiums. I'm sure my local squad would love to host.

Ill St was selected and announced as the location of the 2013 MVC conf baseball tourney today. Maybe this will open up TDA to be host of the 2013 Big 10 turney. Last I heard its location was to be announced in May. My guess would be an announcement during the tourney next week.

Great news, thanks!
