    Nazi Marines?

Photo that has appeared on the internet showing some Marines posing with an Nazi SS flag:

"This is a complete and total outrage," said Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His organization sent a letter to the head of the Marine Corps, Gen. James Amos, and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Thursday, demanding punishment for those involved.

Read the article, they say mistake, I call BS. How can you be a highly trained soldier and not know the history behind that symbol. Now that being said, they have given their apologies and plausabilities. Time to put this black eye to bed.

Good call, before I get sent to the gulag, "Illinois Nazis" is a Blues Brothers reference. But I'll see you in a week.

It's really not that hard to believe that they didn't know. I'm not excusing the behavior, but most indications are that high school graduates generally don't know very much about basic history.

I'm guessing that whoever it was that actually bought the flag (found it, bought it, had it made, whatever) knew what it was, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the others truly had no idea.

I agree. How long do we think it'll be before people start to think more before doing something in this internet age.

Never expect people to think. Enjoy it as a treat when they do.

That was my first thought. Someone told them that it was the new Sniper Specialist flag and convinced them to pose in front of it. Pretty good prank. Sounds like something I might do.

I never was taught about that flag in history. I guess Nebraska's History requirements are poor.

Born a Nebraskan, raised a Nebraskan, will die a Nebraskan!! Go Big Red!

Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” - Gamalie the Pharisee - Addressing the Sanhedrin regarding the new group called Christians
"I support collecting more in taxes from people with high incomes who choose to actually pay taxes at lower tax rates than use lawyers and accountants to avoid taxes at higher tax rates," he wrote. "Some tax revenues at low tax rates is a heckuva lot better than no tax revenues at high tax rates." - Art Laffer (on 999 plan)
