    My list

I know others have done this and some with same names, but here is my current list of coaches we could realistically land that I think we should consider if a change occurs. I reserve right to chznge my list! These are in current order of my preference.

John Groce , ohio, great young coach, some big ten area ties
Larry eustachy, southern miss, been there, dine wll, seems to have conquered demons
Scott sutton, oral roberts, coxistent succes, just need to make sure doesnt have some same problems as family
Scott Nagy, south dakota st - real risk but good upside, has won consistently at lower level

The more I think about Pearl the more I'm open to the idea. Someone was telling me that there are some "punishments" that will follow him wherever he ends up. ANyone know if that's true? If so, that obviously changes my thinking on that.

I believe this is similar to what Tressel has. Nebraska seems to hire coaches (all sports) that have integrity. Pearl does not seem to follow that pattern. I don't follow bball much so I would defer to others, but I don't think this is a fit.

Interesting, and he's having a fairly good year at USM. They should be the favorite to win the CUSA tourney. Couldn't get any worse than Doc and Collier.

Yeah, that seems to pretty much put him on the sidelines for another couple years.

@ Bilsker. Pearl? Who you referring too? From Tenessee? Minnie Pearl? I think she is dead. Thanks for hijacking the thread.

Since some feel this was the topic let's explore Bruce Pearl. Not a chance. First there is the NCAA show cause clause. So that's not happening anyway. But if we were looking at giving coaches who got in trouble with the NCAA or the law a 2nd chance here would be my order of choices. (But let me make it clear, I would not hire any of them)

    1) Kelvin Sampson
    2) Tim Floyd
    3) - 99).....
    100) Dave Bliss
    101) Bruce Pearl

One names I have seem others mention that might be a real possibility is Mike Davis. Though at this point he is kind of struggling. If we want retreads, wouldn't be afraid of Ernie Kent or Stan Heath. Even Karl Hobbs or James Dickey. Fran Franchella (sp?) But those aren't at all likely. I still stick with my list above as potentials. Obviously I'm missing some. What are some real actual realistic possibilities out there? Probably three categories: 1) power league assistant, 2) mid major or minor conference head coach who hasn't been to a power conference as a head coach, or 3)someone not in the game now or someone at a smaller school who has been a power league head coach in the past.

A name that I like but wouldn't generate any "wow" factor is Tim Jankovich at Illinois State. An assistant under Self for 4 years before taking over at Illinois St. Had 3 good seasons before a rough one last year...coming back to have a nice season so far this year. I think the guy is a good coach.

He sounds interesting. I like the Self factor and like the fact that he is in Big X country now.
