Gunner Kiel now a Golden Domer
http://louisianastate.scout.com/2/1149386.html
First Indiana, then LSU, now Notre Dame.
Wonder if he will start making calls to a certain former WR target for Notre Dame?
I don't see any fallout that will effect NU but other schools might feelsome aftershocks. Oh, and the reports of a Notre Dame recruiting demise might have been a little premature.

It's not Feb. 1 yet. He still has a chance to change his mind a couple of more times.

Not going to happen....lets no go there...Westerkamp is solid to Nebraska....
What it might do is push Fuller into the Husker fold....don't suspect he will vist Notre Dame now....
Notre Dame has always recruited well....well with help from the recruiting services and inflated star rankings....and it has not done them a darn bit of good the past two decades or so....
As much as folks like to oogle the Irish over the past 20 or so years they have won 1 MNC and 1 Heisman....Nebraska as won 3 MNC and 1 Heisman.....just sayin....
Notre Dame only had one Rudy but Nebraska gets a new crop of Rudys every season

Good point that Notre Dame has always underachieved. Point is, no matter the coach, the record, etc. they find a way to get top flight talent.
Also, sorry but I don't see any harm in mentioning Westercamp in the conversation. I'm sure he is a lock for NU but I would wager that he might get a call from Kiel.

And he tells him 'no'....and hangs up....he is solid...all ready gave his reasons why.....he and Rose are both actively recruiting other recruits to Nebraska and tweet each other on a daily basis...

Interesting stuff coming from the LSU camp that Lee was practicing as starter for the championship game then a few days before the game Miles switched it to Jefferson. A few players went in and expressed their displeasure of the switch and he sat some of them for portions of the game. Apparently the OC expressed that he thought it was the wrong call as well and Miles told him "If you aren't on my side, go ahead and start looking for a new job after the game". People are speculating that the players were upset because once Lee was told he was going to start the game early in the process, Jefferson was not preparing as he should (late nights out, not drinking the right kind of fluids, etc.).
Anyways, some Tiger fans are speculating this is why Kiehl decommitted. Again, all speculation and I can't see this as truthful. Maybe some of it, but as rumors go, there was probably some stretching of the truth.

Maybe helps with Devin Fuller although Nebraska also has a QB committed. If I were Beck and Pelini, I would try and harp on the fact that the Husker offense fits Fuller far more than Notre Dame and what Kelly is trying to do on offense....I still think Rutgers is the strongest competition for Fuller. Hopefully the Huskers dont strike out on this NJ talent like they did with Lambert.

Agree....and yes down to Huskers and Rutgers from all I am hearing with this decision....
We didn't strikeout with Lambert....it came down to family in the end....happens sometimes...

I didnt mean the coaches 'struck out'. Far from it, they did a wonderful job. I meant their class took a hit more than anything. The Huskers came in 2nd with Lambert and all I am saying is that hopefully for Husker fans, the coaches can overcome the location factor - which they couldnt for Lambert. Being close to home is the main factor with kids a lot of times.

Interesting how Kiel went and spent a few days on campus @ LSU before he decided it wasn't for him... makes you wonder what he learned in just a few short days that would convince him he needed to go somewhere else?

"The last 11 days we focused on Nebraska," said Snyder, "and now I know more about them than I want to."

In fairness he is from Indiana....and it came down to ND and LSU before he chose LSU....I've been to Baton Rouge....I'd go to South Bend too....

I was under the impression he hadn't made it to campus when the switch became public. As I understood it, Kiel was due at LSU's facilities with all of the other early enrollees and his absence was basically the first time he let anyone know he wasn't going there.

Not trying to second guess your sources, but ESPN Insider says he was there for a few days before deciding it wasn't for him.

Gunner Kiel going to Notre Dame
Does this mean we loose out on what appears to be a great WR in Westerkamp?

Sorry again, this should have been in recruiting, please delete post.

Doesn't impact Westerkamp, but it might give NU a better shot at Fuller.
~Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.~
