The face of Occupy... Downing Street?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...Poundland.html
Unemployed college grad had to take a job at a Everything's A Pound store in England and stock shelves, now is suing the British government under their Human Rights Act.
My question is, with her picture now splashed everywhere, and her name attached to what the article calls "landmark legal action," who will hire her now? If she is suing for something like this, why put your business at risk for suit by hiring her to do anything. Plus, she's a geology grad. If she thinks stocking shelves is taxing, what about pounding rocks?
See folks. Do you want to rely on the government for everything? Look what they are making people do to keep their job seeker benefits... they are making the job seekers actually WORK. Oh, the horror.

Miss Reilly’s solicitor, Jim Duffy, said the practice contravenes article 4 (2) of the Human Rights Act, which states: ‘No one shall be required to perform forced or compulsory labour.’
She wasn't forced to do anything. She was given an option: work, or don't get paid.

And it's purchase power is effectively less.

I actually applaud her for wanting to follow her heart, but there are other ways to get there. Maybe find a part-time job (would probably pay more than 50-ish pounds per week) and continue her volunteer work at the museum, hoping it leads to something better.

Yep! If she was shackled during her work stocking shelves, or had a gun to her head - then she and her attorney would have a legitimate case. Since that's not the case, this is just another example of someone trying to get a huge payday via lawsuit, aided by an ambulance-chaser attorney.
Obligatory disclaimer: I have great respect for MOST attorneys and the necessary work they perform in society. Not this one though.

Agree, she is looking for some free money and publicity.

Not me, all lawyers are scum.
