They are talking about how this kid is a Rex Burkhead type of commit for the Huskers...and elite guy....the best the Huskers have signed in many a year....

They really think he is going to be a great pickup for the Huskers...

The guy they are talking to right now is just about reading Sean Callahan's tweets almost verbatim. Kinda funny.

NU gets the break they've been looking for in recruiting. WR Jordan Westerkamp just told us he's staying committed to Nebraska.

Credit John Garrison and Rich Fisher for closing the deal in an in-home visit on Thursday. Brian Kelly from Notre Dame made his Friday.

I compare Westerkamp to a wide receiver version of a Rex Burkhead. He'll be a difference maker for Nebraska down the road.

@HuskerMatt You are right, Paul was ranked slightly higher, but Westerkamp is one of the most decorated receivers in Illinois history.

My guess is Notre Dame is still asking themselves how they lost out on Westerkamp. Bottom line is they should've been on him earlier.

Part of the issue was Kelly and staff tried to strong arm him on the visit last Friday....they wanted a commit on the spot...it backfired...

Appears they never tried to build a realtionship with him....

He said he just needed to be sure and now he knows he is 100% a Husker. Glad the recruiting thing is done. Nebraska is the place for me.

"Elite"...that can't be, the guys in the IrishEnvy website are stating that while he may be a good WR, he's not elite.

I do have to say that quite a few of the ND fans are being classy about Westerkamp keeping his commitment and wishing him well.

: Nebraska commit Jordan Westerkamp just referred to John Garrison as the recruiting coordinator. Interesting.

Said he followed his heart and what he wanted to do which was go to Nebraska....not what others wanted him to do....

    100% Huskers....will sign in Feb....

Hopes ot start as early as possible...

Loved Nebraska....Notre Dame could not overcome that....

Loved Fisher and Garrison....visited his home often...especially Fisher.....

Were very honest with him about the offense and where they hope to take it....

Believes in Nebraska and where the offense is going....

Loves the Husker coaching staff....can't wait to get to Lincoln....

    Seems like a great kid....

His mom is a Notre Dame fan....but is happy for him going to Nebraska....as his dad.....

This seems to support something I wrote earlier when people wondered why a WR would choose 'option-based' NU over a pro-style ND team -- don't judge a 1st year O-coordinator with a QB who may not be exactly what he needs to take the offense where he wants to go.
