    Observations from Illinois game

    Observations of today's game.

A real missed opportunity. Not a terrible 2nd half. But a bad last 1.5 minutes.

Good substitution patterns in 2nd half for sure.

Very good 2nd half offensive execution for 18 minutes. Look at the offensive percentages. Very well done, especially in 2nd half. And no prolonged scoring drought. Offense was spread around among players. Good movement of ball most of the time and nice finishes.

Poor execution out of time out with 1:45 left.

Why take Diaz out on defense with 1 min left?

What the heck was Richardson doing on that flagrant. Let him score at that point.
That was key play of game.

Poor execution coming out of both of the last two time outs. No movement. No real purpose.
Terrible shot selection by Spencer in that last 50 seconds.

Good to see Diaz and Talley do well. That should help.

Terrible 1st half turnovers. Sloppy start. But it didn't end up costing the game.

Actually it did have a big effect on the outcome. NU shot around 50%. What did they ahve in the first half? 14 turnovers? That's a potential of 7 buckets missed out on.

Yep, Illinois played poorly in the 1st half. But instead of taking advantage of it we played very sloppy as well. We should have been able to take advantage of it with a big halftime lead instead of just a 3 point one. Other than that I agree with what you wrote Knight.

Just finished watching the game. Love the fact I can actually watch the games on the BTN have been excited since we joined the conference. Been a closet husker BB fan since the Hoppen/Piatkowski days since I couldon;t watch most games in Iowa.

Today I just about turned off the game after the first four possessions ended in turnovers. I could see this would be another ugly day...fortunately IL played just as poorly so the team hung in until the end somehow.

I think after watching the end of this one I will take the rest of the season off and wait for the next season as I can't watch these anymore...Had a two point lead, the ball and IL in FT bonus with 4 minutes and change. Watched the team and the coach totally give the game away, simply couldn't finish. It's one thing to watch them just being outplayed (last two games) but self afflicted ineptitude is beyond belief and acceptance.

When we were in it late I was hoping we would find a way to lose because I want Doc gone like everyone else. It's sad that I have to hope our team loses for a potentially brighter future.

I will never root for us to lose in any situation. The players here are giving their hearts and more to University of Nebraska. They deserve our support no matter what. I want them to win every game. Then we wouldn't need a new coach! But one win won't change the fact we need a new coach.
