CB Marcus Rios could be 'N' after he visits for the Iowa game
Four-star rated (by Rivals, Scout and 247) CB who was a verbal commit to Boise State but decommitted....his recruitment by Nebraska has gone very, very well and word is he might be ready to pull the lever and commit to Nebraska after his visit for the Iowa game this weekend.....he really likes our coaches and Nebraska.....great news as we have a need for a top-flight high school CB in this class....FWIW this will be this third and final official vist with the other two being to Arizona State last weekend and UCLA in September and he plans to make his decision after his visit to Lincoln....I think our chances are very, very good that we land his commit....
Another CA kid to boot...
Looks awesome on film....
Notre Dame only had one Rudy but Nebraska gets a new crop of Rudys every season

good news indeed and timely

It's nice to watch one of these videos that isn't accompanied by rap music. Nothing against rap music, it's just refreshing.

I think we are okay at CB now...some young guys who are learning by the seat of their pants and struggling...but yes a position of need...

Ranked #20 by Rivals and #17 by Scout. 6'0'' 170 lbs = nice size for a corner although Scout comments he could put on some 'good' weight yet (isn't this true for 98% of high school kids?) but that he plays bigger than he is - we know Bo likes tough, physical corners! Hope he joins!

We're in a great spot, but we still have to fight off late interest from Oregon and Notre Dame with Oregon being the larger concern of the two.
Nonetheless, I like where we're at. A great visit on Friday could do wonders.

No offer from either team....which tells me he may be a backup plan for them.....
I've yet to read a kid who didn't enjoy the game day experience etc. at Nebraska....

Now if he decommited from us and was thinking about Boise State we would call him a person not of his word and good riddance!

only if he didn't come back........................

Scout Team

I sorta question his tackling technique..it works on the high school level, and he looks like he is a big hitter, but I really hope if we get him that we can teach him to wrap up

He is also a December grad who wants to enroll early. I agree that he is a likely commit and IMO will be Nebraska's 9th commit (if not Rios, then Nate Iese will be). Being that he does plan to enroll early, its takes away some of the fear of a late offer from schools like Oregon, USC and Notre Dame swinging his commitment. Rios is going to be a great pickup. If they could also bring in Brandon Beaver, the three of them (along with Charles Jackson) could be the best CB class in the country.

That would put a team more at ease with the early enrollment possibility. I guess I completely missed things on Iese - any light you can shed on him? Also I know you put a 35% on the chance you gave us to land Beaver - who is our top competition for him?

Iese is a DE/TE who really likes Nebraska....kid also out of CA....Sacramento area.....
Nice story on him here from this past May:
Iese is a 6-foot-5, 245-pound specimen who doesn't turn 17 until the end of September, so imagine the glee in the voice of Huskies coach Josh Crabtree and those recruiting him. Iese will lead the Huskies this fall as he emerges as one of the state's intrigue prospects, a two-way player with leadership skills. He is a good student with an impeccable reputation on campus and among his peers.
"I've got a feeling that this is the first of many offers for Nate," Crabtree said. "What a great kid. He's very good, and he can run. He's still a baby. I tell coaches to keep in mind how big his hands are when they shake his hand. He's like a big puppy with big paws."

The schools who have made Brandon Beaver's final list appear to be Nebraska, Washington, Cal, Utah, Arizona State, UCLA (his 1st offer) and USC (no offer). Overall I think Washington is the main competition for Nebraska and perhaps the favorite in his commitment. Beaver visited U-Dub for their game against Oregon (he also visited Washington for their Spring Game). He really liked the visit and the Huskies could use help in the secondary even more than Nebraska could. I think the Huskies are the team to watch out for with him. He has told me that Washington has consitantly recruited him the hardest throughout the process. He plans to visit Cal on December 12th. Looking at the other finalists, Arizona State and UCLA have coaching questions heading into 2012, and USC has their probation problems although Beaver grew up a huge USC fan. I think it might come down to Nebraska and Washington, personally.
