I think the knowledge you gain outweighs the intrusion. Being able to identify location of birth and age of an eagle is an incredible advantage in trying to promote the species. These guys in Iowa are having to work a lot harder in coping with the elements than the eaglets in Norfolk. It would be interesting to be able to track them in years to come to see how they fair.

E1 and 2 have been fighting over a bone, neither one could keep it down. Glad they didnt choke on it. E1 has been doing a lot of preening today, i wonder if those new feathers itch

Good grief... Perspective time. I found this video of the Norfolk middle eaglet getting examined at he Wildlife center today. Check out how big these guys are compared to what they look like in the nest. Remember these are a little over 2 weeks older then the Decorah eaglets!

Bright sunny AM, could be the warmest day of the year for the little Es. Camera housing looks smudged again.

If it warms up, they may start shedding that fuzz even faster.

Rex's feathers are really starting to come in. He is preening like crazy right now. It must itch terribly. He acts like he has chicken pox.

Order left to right - Freedom (E2), Rex (E1), Suh (E3)

Suh is such a mamas boy. I almost think we should have waited to name them to better fit their personality. If I was to rename them early on I would have named E1 Suh because of the size and then named E2 Colt because of the way E1 beat on him endlessly.

Yeah like I said...always a mamas boy. I do think Suh (E3) has the most personality though. Spunky ham.

E3 seems to be the one that is always chirping, been that way since he was hatched

Pretty soon the feathers will be in and then they will be all beaks and feet. They will be pretty goofy looking until their bodies grow to fit.

Watching the babies stagger around the nest reminds me of Friday nights except that they're more agile.

No kidding. I started 7th grade at 5'0" and 92 lbs. I started 8th grade at 5'9" 148. I had size 12 shoes in 7th grade. Talk about clumsy while adjusting to one's body.
