A potential nail in the Bubba to the Huskers coffin
I know, we haven't had our Bubba news for the day. However there has been news out of KC yesterday that I think will directly effect the future of Bubba Starling.
I have been saying all along that if KC doesn't draft Bubba, I feel he will be a Husker. My reasons are here

Anyway, I think yesterday sealed his fate as a member of the KC Royals organization. YEsterday, Gil Meche decided to retire leaving about 12 million dollars on the table and leaving the Royals with 12 million to burn. The Royals have said that they will not use the money on free agents but will instead use it on the draft and international scouting. That's bad news, because 12 million on the draft can be used to draft guys and pay them over the slot. They could draft Bubba and pay him an absurd amount of money (4-6 million) and that would be a lot to pass up.
However, if you are a Royals fan (like myself) you have to be jacked to have 12 million to spend on upgrading the best farm system in all of baseball. If there is one thing Dayton Moore can do is draft and giving himself an extra 12 million to play with on his draft budget could just make the farm system absolutely ridiculous.
As a Husker fan, first and foremost, I hope I am wrong. I would love to see Bubba wearing Red.
