Unfortunantly, I fear thar Bubba is just putting all of these qoutes in the media to better the offer he does get when he is drafted. Especially with Boras as his agent I am sure he is in his ear telling him what to say to maximize his signing bonus. I don't think he will be able to turn down the money.

Every mock draft I've seen has him going in the mid-1st round.

If he got drafted by the Royals, consider him gone. No team is throwing money towards the draft (especially towards Boras represented players) than the Royals. That being said, I would be furious if the Royals drafted him in the 1st round. They need a power hitting outfielder.

Will NEVER play a down for the Huskers, and honestly nor should he. There is no way he and his family can turn down that much money

Gotta agree with that. He said he couldn't turn down a lot of money. He'll take his millions and run... can't blame him.

You would really have to love football to turn down the money he is going to be offered.
Good for Bubba to have "options".
-
A lot of people assume that some team will draft him and offer whatever it takes and he will be gone.
If someone drafts him, and buys him out of football at Zach Lee money, than yeah, he probably is gone. More power to him.
But you never know who is going to draft him. And you never know how the negotiations will go. You never know if that organization has their act together or not.
Some Major League teams immediate tick off the family and negotiations basically break down.
This isn't a slam dunk.
Lots of drama left to unfold.

Yup never say never....and that is a fact....

Notre Dame only had one Rudy but Nebraska gets a new crop of Rudys every season

The thing that is worriesome to me is if we in a sense lose out on a recruit should Bubba take up the scholarship and then change his mind. I am more than fine giving it to a deserving walk-on, but it would be nice to give it too a highly touted recruit also!
I would give my life for anyone one of them as i would my own family. -Pops
It doesn’t matter if the glass is half full or half empty. What matters is you have a glass that has something in it. Some people have no glass, or have a glass with nothing in it. So appreciate all that is in your life and quit questioning whether your glass in half full or half empty.

Maybe that is why NU is probably going to over sign.

#1 I hope he stays a Husker
#2 If he goes the baseball route, then I'm cheering the Cardinals pick him up!
He would look great in red either way

My guess is that he never sees the mound in the bigs. He is a power hitting OF.

Perhaps this is an instance where NU takes a page out the the SEC book and over-recruits...Not sure how this effects us in the long run if indeed he is gone in June. At that point all the good recruits are gone, the scholly is unused and we have one less QB. Now if NU is playing this too, we may be getting some good PR out of this as well. It may well be that the chatter is only here in NE and is not helping NU at all, although it could be getting the attention of some other recruit that may think of NU as being loyal, yadda, yadda, yadda. The big problem is that we will have a LONG time to make up stories based on this little morsel dropped on the plate by the KC Star. Those people know how to get hits from the folk in red!

Know what you mean. I'm just tired of going after presumed big-time QBs and getting left with....well, no big-time QBs....

I have said it all along--the key with Bubba coming the Huskers is the Royals. Since Dayton Moore took over, he has made it a priority to scout heavily the players close to Kansas City. He doesn't want another Albert Pujols, Ian Kinsler type player slip, past them again. Two years ago, he took Tim Montgomery in the supplemental first round, who is from Missouri. If the Royals take Bubba, he will not be coming to NU.
However, KC's farm system is LOADED--and I mean loaded at an unprecedented level. Moore may look at what players are available and see which player could help his team at an earlier time. This team will be making its move 2012/2013. High schoolers don't develop that fast and reach the majors usually in 2-3 years. So Moore could look at a college player who wouldn't need to spend as much time in the minors and be a valuable asset in the 2012/2013 season. Moore loves pitching, calling it the currency of baseball. If Starling drops past the Royals, I think he will be a Husker.

So a friend whose son plays for TCU tells me anyway. Point being if they try to low ball him with an offer he may just decide to play on the college level. We'll know soon enough I guess.
He turned down $4 Million... And while the Rangers were bankrupt; you'd think the Bankruptcy estate and Debtor in Possession lenders (I assume it was a reorganization) would have put "market" based money in the budget to sign a top prospect. Maybe you can't trade a draft pick, but if nothing else they should have to receive some value for the pick.
IMO after reading the interview... he is gone... it sounds like he is much more of a QB project than people think, he knows that, the trick is getting $ to sign.

True, the draft is in June; however, he & his agent may know which team intends to take him and/or where he will fall in the pecking order long before the draft. Either way, he is in line to be offered millions as a signing bonus and a high salary as well. I would like to see him at NU, but I don't see anyone passing on the money he stands to collect via MLB.

I'll defer back to HIO's post....

Good post. I can't wait til this farm system starts paying off. I love the royals but the losing starts to wear on you after awhile.
