Posting guidelines in regards to linking to articles

There have been a few instances where articles from other web sites have been quoted in their entirety. This is not acceptable and can cause problems if the originating site decides to object. Please do not quote more than the first paragraph or two and provide a link to the article. Whoever wrote the article deserves the traffic to their web site to read it. Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

Just a reminder folks that you can't cut 'n' paste premium material from sites like Huskers Illustrated, or Big Red Report (Scout) for legal reasons. David and Joe could be put in legal jeopardy if you do.

An article on the laws of the US that cover copyright.

In the internet age, everyone should know, "Acknowledging the source of the copyrighted material does not substitute for obtaining permission" according to the United States Copyright Office. This is at the forefront and bolded because many people seem to think that if they attribute something they are safe with regard to fair use, copyright infringement and plagiarism. However, that thought process is wrong. The above quotation falls within the copyright realm of fair use because it is a reasonably short excerpt, it provides attribution and it does not detract from the commercial endeavors of another.
